In his first start after being activated from the disabled list, flamethrower Gerrit Cole looked sharp in the Pirates’ 3-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night at PNC Park. The 23-year-old Cole (7-4, 3.69 ERA), who was also shelved in June due to shoulder fatigue, received a no-decision. However, Cole fanned six batters, threw 61 of 97 pitches for strikes, and only allowed two runs over seven innings to help Pittsburgh snap their seven-game losing skid.
